Oculo-Digital Sign
AKA: Oculo-digital phenomenon,
Franceschetti-Leber Phenomenon
Repeated pressure applied to the eye by a child with blindness or low vision.
Presumably this pressure creates a
phosphene
that is interesting to the child.
It is not specific for one particular ocular disease
It was first mentioned by Theodor Leber in 1877 but identified as the oculo-digital phenomenon by Franceschetti in 1937
