Pre-septal Cellulitis

Organisms

  1. S.aureus, streptococcus
  2. Heemophilus influenzae in non-immunized children
  3. Anerobes possible if result of human or animal bite
  4. Vesicular rash present- HSV/VZV

Treatment

  • PO Antibiotic
    • Amoxicillin/clavulanate 20-40 mg/kg/day divided TID
    • Cefaclor 20-40 mg/kg/day divided TID
    • Penicillin allergy
      • Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole 8-12 mg/kg/day & 40-60 mg/kg/day respectively, divided BID
